About Us
Camfed is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to girls' education and poverty eradication in Africa.
The Camfed organisation has five branches:
- Camfed International, established in the UK in 1993 and the headquarters of the organisation (registered charity No. 1029161)
- Camfed Zimbabwe, established in 1993
- Camfed USA, established in 2001 (a 501c3 organisation)
- Camfed Ghana, established in 2002
- Camfed Zambia, established in 2006
- Camfed Tanzania, established in 2007
Boards of trustees are active in each branch, supported by an International Advisory Board whose members provide specific expertise, including academics, film-makers, corporate leaders, journalists, celebrities and African chiefs.
Cama, the Camfed Alumni, was established in 1998 and is now a pan-African membership organisation for young, educated, rural women. Cama is now at the forefront of health, micro-finance and human rights initiatives. Cama’s members are showing how the education of girls plays a crucial role in the fight against poverty and the regeneration of communities.
