Job Title: Grants Manager
Location: San Francisco, CA, USA
Camfed is an international organization working since 1993 to solve long-term health, economic and social issues in Africa by investing in girls’ education. In 2007, more than 400,000 children benefited from Camfed’s education program. The impact of Camfed’s work multiplies as the young women supported by Camfed through school share the benefits of their education with their communities. The pan-African organization established by former Camfed beneficiaries, Cama (the Camfed Association), boasts more than 9,000 members who are achieving economic independence and acting as leaders and role models for younger generations.
Camfed is widely recognized as a best practice organization by international institutions including the World Bank and UNICEF, and Camfed just completed a two-year tenure as co-chair of the United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative. With a budget of $16 million in 2008, Camfed’s proven track record is attracting growing support from donors and partner organizations across sectors including government, media, business, finance, and public relations.
Camfed operates as a family of non-governmental organizations working in rural areas of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ghana and Tanzania, and launching operations in Malawi in October 2008. Offices exist in each program country, with offices in the US and UK providing support in program monitoring and implementation, finance, communications and fundraising.
Main purpose
Working as a member of Camfed’s Operations Team internationally and collaborating closely with program, finance, and monitoring and evaluation staff across offices, the Grants Manager will ensure the smooth management of and reporting on all US government funds awarded to Camfed’s programs.
The Grants Manager will manage the quality and timely flow of information between Camfed USA, Camfed International and Camfed Tanzania in order to support the delivery of the current USAID-funded project, prepare reports, and ensure that Camfed is in full compliance with the terms of the existing USAID Cooperative Agreement.
The Grants Manager will also support the development of new proposals for further US government funding and coordinate donor correspondence and meetings related to the project.
